CKC goes pink again!

All of us at CKC feel so good to be invited and able to participate in St. Mark’s annual school-wide Breast Cancer Awareness Cut-A-Thon again this year!

This years all star team from CKC was Candace, Cara, Andrea, Ashley, Fanny, and Giuliana!

Team CKC took take care of the pink hair extensions, cut hair to be used as a donation for cancer victims, and shaved heads for those who want to show their support for those fighting cancer!

Team CKC along with St. Marks faculty and classmates cheered in support as boys shaved their heads and girls had their hair cut and donated to make wigs for women and children with medical hair loss. In addition, also many girls joined in to support and got a pink synthetic hair extension!

This year St. Marks students raised over $1,500 in pledges and donations for the Elizabeth Pfriem Swim Center for Cancer Care at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Bridgeport. Lyn McCarthy, Executive Director of the Foundation, attended the cut-a- to show her gratitude to the school community. She remarked, “Each year I look forward to getting the invitation to the St. Mark Cut-A-Thon. It is so inspiring to witness children making a real difference against cancer that next year she is going to donate her hair too!”

We are also trying to raise awareness and generate donation dollars this month at CKC! For the entire month of October, CKC is offering single pink hair extensions for a $15 donation that goes to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

The NBCF provides breast health education and early detection services. Over 80% of their spending is directed back into their programs that support women facing breast cancer!

Make sure to stop in to one of our locations to get your pink hair extensions and show your support and share the awareness before the month is up!

Many thanks to all the students and faculty at St. Mark’s! We’re looking forward to 2020!
